Sperm Bank was a participatory performance that playfully considered the parts of ourselves we hope to pass on to our children, and imagined a scenario where we could search for the ‘perfect’ sperm.
Sperm Bank was created by Julie Tepperman and me, and was performed as part of the SummerWorks Performance Gallery at the Gladstone Hotel.
As part of the performance, we invited people with sperm to complete various tasks (like an interview, a baby-changing contest, a Rorschach test) while we evaluated their desirability as potential sperm donors. People without sperm were invited to observe and help us decide on the best candidate.
